De meilleures mesures de pr\u00e9vention pourraient ralentir sa course et sauver plusieurs centaines de milliers de vies chaque ann\u00e9e, en particulier dans les pays en d\u00e9veloppement et les pays \u00e9mergents. Voil\u00e0, en substance, les messages cl\u00e9s de deux volumineux rapports rendus publics mardi 4 f\u00e9vrier 2020 par l\u2019Organisation Mondiale de la Sant\u00e9 (OMS) et le Centre International de Recherche sur le Cancer (CIRC). Ce num\u00e9ro d\u2019\u00c9quation Nutrition est consacr\u00e9 aux r\u00e9centes publications sur le r\u00f4le des fruits et l\u00e9gumes (F&amp;L) dans la pr\u00e9vention des maladies cardiovasculaires (MCV).<br \/>\nToni Meier et ses collaborateurs ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la relation entre les facteurs de risque et les MCV dans 51 pays de la r\u00e9gion europ\u00e9enne de l\u2019OMS, de 1990 \u00e0 2016. Cette \u00e9tude montre que le nombre de d\u00e9c\u00e8s attribu\u00e9s aux maladies cardiovasculaires est pass\u00e9 de 12,3 millions en 1990 \u00e0 plus de 17,6 millions en 2016. Une alimentation saine riche en fruits et l\u00e9gumes \u00e9viterait environ un d\u00e9c\u00e8s pr\u00e9matur\u00e9 sur cinq. Ainsi, compar\u00e9 aux autres facteurs de risque comportementaux, une alimentation saine et vari\u00e9e est un facteur cl\u00e9 potentiel pour \u00e9viter les d\u00e9c\u00e8s pr\u00e9matur\u00e9s.<br \/>\nL\u2019\u00e9tude de Xiuting Mo et ses collaborateurs visait \u00e0 projeter la r\u00e9duction du fardeau des maladies cardiovasculaires selon diff\u00e9rents sc\u00e9narios d&rsquo;augmentation de la consommation de fruits et l\u00e9gumes, au Japon d&rsquo;ici 2060. Cette \u00e9tude sugg\u00e8re qu&rsquo;un pourcentage non n\u00e9gligeable de maladies cardiovasculaires pourrait \u00eatre contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par une augmentation mod\u00e9r\u00e9e de la consommation en fruits et l\u00e9gumes.
