Fruits and vegetables contribute important nutrients that are underconsumed in the United States. Higher intake of fruits and vegetables might reduce the risk for many chronic diseases including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some types of cancer. In addition, replacing high-calorie foods with fruits and vegetables can aid in weight management.
