{"id":43869,"date":"2008-02-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T02:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/a-study-of-the-importance-of-education-and-cost-incentives-on\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T03:13:38","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T02:13:38","slug":"a-study-of-the-importance-of-education-and-cost-incentives-on","status":"publish","type":"resume","link":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/a-study-of-the-importance-of-education-and-cost-incentives-on\/","title":{"rendered":"A study of the importance of education and cost incentives on individual food choices at the harvard school of public health cafeteria."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo investigate the importance of cost and awareness of health- or disease-promoting properties of foods and meals for choices by customers of a cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>DESIGN: <\/strong><br \/>\nA non-randomized intervention study.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>SETTING: <\/strong><br \/>\nA medium size cafeteria in the Harvard School of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>PARTICIPANTS: <\/strong><br \/>\nCustomers of the cafeteria mainly consisting of public health students, faculty, and school staff and workers from the medical campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>INTERVENTION: <\/strong><br \/>\nThe purchase of healthy foods and dishes was subsidized and their prices reduced by 20%. This promotion was accompanied by the distribution of educational material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:<\/strong><br \/>\nChange in consumption of healthy and less healthy foods. Analysis: The geometric mean was used to calculate the change in consumption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>RESULTS:<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the intervention, we observed a 6% increase in the consumption of healthy foods (95% confidence interval [CI]; 5% to 8%), and a 2% decline in the consumption of less-healthy foods (95% CI; -1% to -4%).
