{"id":40530,"date":"2010-07-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T01:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/validity-of-a-competing-food-choice-construct-regarding-fruit\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T02:15:55","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T01:15:55","slug":"validity-of-a-competing-food-choice-construct-regarding-fruit","status":"publish","type":"resume","link":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/validity-of-a-competing-food-choice-construct-regarding-fruit\/","title":{"rendered":"Validity of a competing food choice construct regarding fruit and vegetable consumption among urban college freshmen."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abstract<br \/>\nOBJECTIVE: This paper presents the reliability and validity of a \u00ab\u00a0competing food choice\u00a0\u00bb construct designed to assess whether factors related to consumption of less-healthful food were perceived to be barriers to fruit and vegetable consumption in college freshmen.<\/p>\n<p>DESIGN: Cross-sectional, self-administered survey.<\/p>\n<p>SETTING: An urban public college with a large, diverse student population.<\/p>\n<p>PARTICIPANTS: A convenience sample of 408 college freshmen.<\/p>\n<p>VARIABLES MEASURED: A \u00ab\u00a0competing food choice\u00a0\u00bb construct and fruit and vegetable intake.<\/p>\n<p>ANALYSES: Factor analysis, Cronbach alpha, and correlation coefficients were used to determine the reliability and validity of the construct.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTS: Three factors were produced from the factor analysis of the 11-item competing food choice construct: \u00ab\u00a0competitive food\u00a0\u00bb barriers (Cronbach alpha = 0.73), fruit and vegetable-related \u00ab\u00a0time\u00a0\u00bb barriers (Cronbach alpha = 0.67), and \u00ab\u00a0quality\u00a0\u00bb barriers (Cronbach alpha = 0.64).
