{"id":34904,"date":"2013-03-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T23:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/neighbourhood-and-consumer-food-environment-is-associated\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T00:36:23","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T23:36:23","slug":"neighbourhood-and-consumer-food-environment-is-associated","status":"publish","type":"resume","link":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/neighbourhood-and-consumer-food-environment-is-associated\/","title":{"rendered":"Neighbourhood and consumer food environment is associated with dietary intake among supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap) participants in fayette county, kentucky."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OBJECTIVE: <\/p>\n<p>The aim of the study was to determine the association between dietary outcomes and the neighbourhood food environment (street network distance from home to stores) and consumer food environment (Nutrition Environment Measurement Survey-Stores (NEMS-S) audit).<\/p>\n<p>DESIGN: <\/p>\n<p>The neighbourhood food environment was captured by creating 0\u00b75-mile and 1-mile network distance (street distance) around each participant&rsquo;s home and the nearest food venue (convenience store, grocery store, supermarket, farmers&rsquo; market and produce stand). The consumer food environment was captured by conducting NEMS-S in all grocery stores\/supermarkets within 0\u00b75 and 1 mile of participants&rsquo; homes.<\/p>\n<p>SETTING: <\/p>\n<p>Fayette County, KY, USA.<\/p>\n<p>SUBJECTS: <\/p>\n<p>Supplemental Nutrition Assessment Program (SNAP) participants, n 147.<\/p>\n<p>RESULTS: <\/p>\n<p>SNAP participants who lived within 0\u00b75 mile of at least one farmers&rsquo; market\/produce stand had higher odds of consuming one serving or more of vegetables (OR = 6\u00b792; 95 % CI 4\u00b709, 11\u00b769), five servings or more of grains (OR = 1\u00b776; 95 % CI 1\u00b701, 3\u00b705) and one serving or more of milk (OR = 3\u00b779; 95 % CI 2\u00b714, 6\u00b771) on a daily basis.
