{"id":32608,"date":"2014-06-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T23:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/effects-of-environmental-intervention-in-workplace-cafeterias\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T00:01:18","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T23:01:18","slug":"effects-of-environmental-intervention-in-workplace-cafeterias","status":"publish","type":"resume","link":"https:\/\/aprifel-pp.mentalworks.biz\/fr\/resume-scientifique\/effects-of-environmental-intervention-in-workplace-cafeterias\/","title":{"rendered":"Effects of Environmental Intervention in Workplace Cafeterias on Vegetable Consumption by Male Workers."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OBJECTIVE<\/strong><br \/>\nTo assess the effects of an environmental intervention based on the transtheoretical model to increase access to nutritional information about vegetable consumption in workplace cafeterias.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DESIGN<\/strong><br \/>\nNonrandomized controlled trial.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SETTING<\/strong><br \/>\nSixteen workplaces with cafeterias in Niigata, Japan, were assigned to intervention (n = 8) or comparison sites (n = 8).<\/p>\n<p><strong>PARTICIPANTS<\/strong><br \/>\nA total of 349 Japanese male workers aged 20-59 years, who visited the cafeterias ? 3 times\/wk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTERVENTION<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the intervention group, 12 types of table tents containing information on increasing vegetable consumption, based on the transtheoretical model stages and processes of change, were distributed to cafeterias for 24 weeks in 2009. Information was presented according to the sequence suggested by the stages of change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES<\/strong><br \/>\nVegetable consumption in the cafeteria and per day and stage of change were assessed using self-administered questionnaires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ANALYSIS<\/strong><br \/>\nDifferences between groups were tested using a generalized linear model adjusted for age, work environment, and position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESULTS<\/strong><br \/>\nThe difference in the stage of change was not statistically significantly different (P = .05), but the intervention group (n = 181) had increased vegetable consumption in the cafeteria (+0.18 servings; P&nbsp;=&nbsp;.01) and per day (+0.32 servings; P = .01) vs the comparison group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS<\/strong><br \/>\nThe findings suggest a beneficial effect of providing access to nutrition information about vegetable consumption as an environmental intervention in workplace cafeterias.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","mots_cles":[],"class_list":["post-32608","resume","type-resume","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":{"adresse":"Department of Health and Nutrition, Niigata University of Health and Welfare, Niigata, Japan.
